Although this may sound like a cliché, feedback gathered during staff interviews consistently highlighted that the most valued aspect of working here is the team environment. Many of our team members have not only undergone training with us but have remained with the organization for several decades.

A particularly memorable quote from these interviews was: “How many people can genuinely say that they still enjoy coming to work every day, even after 45 years?” Furthermore, how many individuals can claim to have remained with one employer for their entire professional career?

Richard Howting – Relentless, cheerful, professional

Little Rich, an Artistic Director and Salon Manager, has been a stylist for 32 years and specializes in short precision cuts. He enjoys the team atmosphere, client loyalty, and his commute to work. Passionate about scuba diving, biking, and outdoor activities, he describes himself as relentless, cheerful, and professional. His dream celebrity client is David Beckham.

Lyndsey – Passionate, Caring and stylish

Lyndsey, Richard John’s director, has been a stylist for 45 years, meeting Richard when she was just 7 or 8 years old and outside of the salon, they went on to sail together for years. Known for her passion, she takes pride in transformative haircuts and cherishes the happy atmosphere. Her hobbies include sailing, gardening, and tennis, and her favourite travel destination is Thailand.

Beccy - Loud, confident and fun

Beccy has been a stylist with us for 22 years and has worked for Richard for 24, coming through the academy. She finds joy in creating new styles and takes pride in heavily textured cuts. She values her loyal clients and the family atmosphere and her favourite travel destination is Greece.

Heather – Fun, friendly and conscientious

Heather has been a stylist since 2008 and has worked for Richard for 17 years. Her favourite thing about her job is colouring, and she enjoys martial arts as a hobby and her favourite place she has travelled to is Aruba.

Shantel – Funny, professional and friendly

Shantel, with 21 years of experience, specialises in bridal and hair-up styles, has worked at Richard John for 2 years, and enjoys the team and the sea view. Describing herself as funny, professional, and friendly, she hails from South Africa, loves going to the beach, and dreams of styling Shakira. Her favourite travel destination is Alaska.

Rita – Friendly, self critical and hardworking

Rita has been a stylist for 30 years and particularly enjoys cutting and meeting people. She describes herself as friendly, self-critical, and hardworking, and values the team at Richard John for keeping her feeling youthful. Among her hobbies are strength training and running, and her dream celebrity to work with is Idris Elba.

Kelly - Impulsive, confident and kind

Kelly, a stylist since 1999, takes great pride in creating hair transformations, particularly balayage styles. Describing herself as impulsive, confident, and kind, she enjoys active hobbies like going to the gym and walking her dog. She cherishes being part of the team and finds fulfilment in her work.

Sam C – Exuberant, quirky and fun-loving

Sam C, an Artistic Director, has been a stylist for 19 years and with Richard for 21. She excels in precision cutting, loves being creative, and enjoys uplifting clients. Sam is also passionate about photography, drawing, and exploring nature. Described as exuberant, quirky, and fun-loving, her dream client would be Victoria Beckham.

Julie – Busy, positive, cheerful

Julie, an Artistic Director, has 38 years of experience and was trained at the academy. She specialises in short haircuts and colour correction, loves making people feel great, and enjoys the team’s professionalism, the location, and wide product range. Outside work, she loves horse riding, the outdoors, and travel—especially to South Africa.

Aimi Mansfield – Hardworking, perfectionist and friendly

Aimi has been a stylist for 20 years and has worked for Richard for 8 years. She thrives when she’s being creative and enjoys Pilates and yoga. Her dream celebrity to work on would be Anna Wintour, and she loves the team at Richard John.

Erin - Outgoing, talkative and understanding

Erin, a senior stylist with seven years of experience, loves making people happy and values the team. Proud of her first graduated bob, she enjoys musical theatre and describes herself as outgoing, talkative, and understanding. Her dream celebrity client is Stacey Solomon, and her favourite travel destination is New York.

Kitty – Bubbly, friendly, confident

With seven years of experience as a stylist, Kitty brings a vibrant and confident energy to the team. Having completed her training through the academy and recently rejoining the salon, she is passionate about making people happy. Kitty thrives in the lively, friendly atmosphere at Richard John, describing it as a place where every day feels like a celebration. Outside the salon, she enjoys walking, dancing, hitting the gym, exploring TikTok, and shopping. Her favorite city to visit is New York.

Sienna – Blonde, outgoing and kind

Sienna has been part of the team for 3 years, having come through our academy. She describes herself as having a love for colouring blondes and enjoys travel and fine dining. She values working among our amazing team and would love to style the iconic Adele.

Megan P - Resilient, loyal and trustworthy

Megan P has been a stylist for two years, worked for Richard for four years, and loves colouring. She enjoys the team at Richard John and is proud of a graduated bob she created for a regular client. Her hobbies include shopping and socialising, and she describes herself as resilient, loyal, and trustworthy. Her dream celebrity client is Julia Roberts, and her favourite travel destination is Thailand.

Lily – Bubbly, fun and reliable

Lily has been a stylist for three years and enjoys working with colours to help people feel their best. Having worked for Richard for five years, she values being part of the team. Among her hobbies, socialising and shopping stand out, and her dream celebrity to work on is Molly Mae.

Miriam - Kind, friendly, confident

A graduate of the academy, Miriam brings kindness, confidence, and a friendly spirit to the Richard John team. She is passionate about making a difference in her clients’ lives, helping boost their confidence, and cherishes the welcoming, family-like atmosphere at the salon. Miriam enjoys spending her free time with friends, working out at the gym, and savouring great dinners. She counts Hong Kong among her favorite places she’s visited.

Georgie – Caring and an extroverted introvert

Georgie, a beauty manager with 24 years of experience, values making a difference in how people feel. She loves Richard John for its people, enjoys cooking, reading, paddle boarding, and being outdoors, and has massaged A-list celebrities. Describing herself as caring and an extroverted introvert, her dream dinner date would be Joanna Lumley, and her favourite travel destination is Thailand.

Kerry has been a therapist for 30 years and with Richard for 24. She loves the social aspect of her work and cherishes her team at Richard John’s. Her hobbies include walking her dog and drinking wine, and she once skydived over a croc-infested beach. Melbourne, Australia is her favourite place to go.

Hayley - Giggly and caring

Hayley has been a therapist for 10 years and loves her clients and the supportive team at Richard John. She enjoys playing with her pets and recently bought her first house. Describing herself as giggly and caring, she dreams of dining with Pedro Pascal and treasures Barry Island as a travel favourite.

Louisa – Kind, honest, loyal

Meet Louisa, a therapist with 24 years of experience in the industry. While she’s only been a member of the team for a short time, Louisa loves the supportive atmosphere created by both the team and the clients. Her passion lies in facials and reflexology, and before joining Richard John, she had a unique role as an inflight beauty therapist for Virgin. While she wishes she had more time for hobbies, she treasures memories of traveling to Cape Town. 

Carol - Kind, fun and generous

Carol has an impressive 25 years of experience as a therapist and began working for Richard nearly a year ago. She enjoys an active lifestyle, spending her free time at the gym, running, and walking her dog. Interestingly, Carol’s connection to her current workplace spans decades, as she first worked here 26 years ago during her training. Her vibrant personality shines through as she reflects on her journey.

Justine - Funny, compassionate, hardworking

With over 30 years of experience at Richard John, Justine thrives as a training manager, mentoring apprentices to become the next generation of stylists. She holds a L’Oréal colour specialist degree and excels in complex colouring techniques. Passionate about customer service, Justine ensures every client has an unforgettable experience, while enjoying yoga, dining out, and wine in her personal time.

Michele - Professional, creative, perfectionist

Michelle, a dedicated training manager with over 25 years of experience, has spent five years at Richard John, where she excels in cutting short textures and razor cutting. She finds immense fulfilment in watching students grow and transform through their training, and enjoys running, socialising, and relaxing with a good G&T in her spare time.

Kim – Loving, kind and confident

Kim has been working with Richard for over 20 years and serves as the shop manager, ensuring the smooth running of the salon. She loves the team and the products she works with, and in her free time, she enjoys traveling. Known for her impressive shoe collection.

Emma - Loyal, caring and loving

Emma, has worked for Richard for 25 years, and is our “Oracle”. She plays a versatile role, serving as an in-house accountant and office manager, therapist and describes herself as a general dogs body. She enjoys Pilates and baking in her spare time and her favourite travel destination is the Amalfi Coast.

Jo – Loud, assertive and fun loving

Jo has been a salon coordinator for 10 and a half years, enjoying the camaraderie of the team and the vibrant environment. She describes herself as loud, assertive, and fun-loving, with a passion for theatre, healthy eating and loves travelling to Greece.

Baba – Caring, loyal and kind

Baba has worked for Richard for 4 years in retail and reception, enjoying the balance between both roles and cherishing the incredible team. She has a deep passion for skin care and spends her free time studying it. Baba also has a special connection with animals, including a one-legged seagull that visits her kitchen window for food.

Lucy – Fair, kind, trustworthy, resident diplomat

Lucy, who has been part of the team for over five years, describes her role as a host, receptionist, and sometimes steps into the role of diplomat. She loves the team spirit at work and has a passion for traveling. Having spent 25 years as a travel agent, she treasures her experiences in the United States.

Leigh – Ann – Smily, bubbly and calm

Leigh-Ann, who has been an integral part of Richard John for 10 years, loves the team, describing it as having another family. Always calm in a crisis with a smile on her face. She also loves running her son to various activities and is a fan of The Lion King, having seen it multiple times in the West End.
